So far, ZCIS (Zombie Cowboys Infinite Survival) has evolved into a strong foundation for a replayable wave-based survival experience inside Unreal Editor for Fortnite. The project centers around surviving endless hordes of undead western enemies within the cursed region known as Devil’s Range. A major focus has been establishing the core gameplay loop, especially the elimination-to-points reward system, since that economy drives nearly every mechanic in the game. Work has included setting up creature spawners, building Verse scripting for zombie eliminations and point rewards, troubleshooting event connections, and testing different systems to ensure kills properly reward players. You also began planning essential progression mechanics such as wall buys, upgrades, and survival balancing.

On the creative side, the world and enemy identity of ZCIS has expanded significantly. Multiple zombie cowboy variants were concepted to create visual variety and atmosphere, including drifters, saloon workers, burned undead, one-armed gunslingers, rattlesnake-infested zombies, fast “runner” types, and pouncing infected designed to pressure players differently. The project has also started defining its tone: a creepy, abandoned Wild West setting with horror-inspired tension and escalating danger. Beyond gameplay, attention has been given to immersion, replayability, team strategy, UI ideas, and long-term systems that will make each survival run feel intense and unpredictable.
